SETAC Rome is Knocking at the Door

Anna Barra Caracciolo, SETAC Rome Meeting Chair

SETAC Rome logoThe SETAC Europe 28th Annual Meeting in Rome, Italy, is going to start in few days. We are busy putting the finishing touches on the meeting to make it an enjoyable and fulfilling event for everyone.

This year’s meeting offers a diverse and impactful scientific program, along with exciting and interesting social events that will occur throughout the five-day meeting.

The meeting will take place at the Roma Convention Center in a 3,500-square-meter exhibition area under an architectural masterpiece called “La Nuvola,” which is a steel and fabric structure representing a cloud hanging from the sky. The meeting center is easy to reach by Metro line B, getting off at the stop “Eur Fermi – La Nuvola, Roma Convention Center.”

Accessible through the website, you can find a number of facilities ranging from the poster printing and delivery at the conference venue to the tourist information desk where you can buy the special ROMA PASS card with a special congress fee (Roma Pass 72 hours or Roma Pass 48 hours). Moreover, you can also get suggestions on special evening tours of ancient Rome for after the meeting and different options for social events, such as student activities, the fun run and more for while you’re at the conference.

This year’s meeting theme is “Responsible Research for Environmental Quality.” In keeping with the theme, we have considered the environmental impact and human wellness when organizing the meeting, including meals and coffee breaks. We have reserved part of the dining area for gluten-free food choices for the delegates. All the bread for the sandwiches and cakes will be lactose free. Ingredients in served food will be displayed on the menus, so delegates can make appropriate food choices that appeal to their dietary requirements. The cutlery, plates, cups and napkins will be made of a special compostable material to reduce waste. We hope to avoid creating large quantities of plastic waste at this conference. We will also be helping those less fortunate than us by providing any leftover food to a local charity. We encourage every participant to bring their water bottle with them as water coolers will be avaialable at the conference center to refill them.

The SETAC Rome mobile app is available for download on both the Google Play store and the iTunes app store. The app allows you to view session and meeting information, add items to your calendar and comment on sessions and presentations.

The Scientific Committee and Local Organizing Committee are making every effort to ensure this conference is a satisfying and unforgettable experience, and we look forward to seeing you in Rome.
