Small Great Scientists Participating in the internship program was certainly a rewarding way of bringing science and environmental education to SETAC and the local community. Activities such as these proved to be motivation for young students and an experience that meant a lot to me, personally. The dedication and success of these two students was also a positive experience for the organizers, all the professional in attendance and for the SETAC Argentina Chapter. We hope this is only the start of great success in the coming years.

Prairie Northern MeetingRegional Chapter Spotlight: Prairie Northern Chapter’s 6th Annual Meeting Exploring the Oil and Gas Industry in Western Canada

The 6th Annual General Meeting and Conference of the SETAC North America Prairie Northern Chapter was hosted from 4–5 June by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. The conference was aptly themed “One Health and the Oil & Gas Industry in the West: Animals to Ecosystems.” The conference kicked off with two short courses, attended by approximately 65 students and faculty.

Every year, the editors of the SETAC Globe have offered session chairs the opportunity to provide summaries of their session from SETAC annual meetings. Normally, we receive approximately 6–8 summaries from session chairs, which will then be published in the next few issues of the Globe. This year, we tried something different and provided a template for chairs to submit their summaries. Much to our surprise, we received a record number of submission, and as of today, we have received 24 summary articles. Therefore, we have decided that publishing a special issue later this summer would be appropriate.

You may have heard the good news. Recently, the Thomson Reuters Journal Citation Report released the 2014 impact factors and both SETAC journals have cause to celebrate. Integrated Environmental Assessment and Management has been accepted into Thomson’s database, the Web of Science, and will receive its first ever impact factor this year (coming in fall). Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry has improved its impact factor by 15% and can now boast an impressive 3.225.
