Pollutants in the Environment: Fate and Toxicity—Focused Topic Meeting in August 2011 in Mérida, Mexico

SETAC North America, in conjunction with the Mexico Regional Chapter, is hosting a Focused Topic Meeting from 24-27 August 2011 in Mérida, Mexico. The theme of the meeting is: Pollutants in the Environment: Fate and Toxicity. This meeting will be held in conjunction with the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) International World Conference, which will take place from 21-25 August 2011.

This meeting strives to promote collaboration among Mexican, American, and Canadian scientists and decision-makers. The meeting will be beneficial for scientists, consultants, academics, and businesses committed to the environment, and general audiences from Mexico and the rest of North America. Topics will be of interest to those studying, evaluating and managing pollution, environmental effects of oil spills, contaminated sites, management of toxic substances, human and ecological risk assessment, toxicology and ecotoxicology. There also will be several plenary talks including: challenges and solutions for collaboration; how to survive customs, terrorism fears, language and cultural barriers; and how to translate science into management. This meeting will include a joint oil spill session with SER, short courses, platform and poster presentations, panel and other discussions, and several social events.
